Elkhart Battery Backup & Power Storage
Whole-home battery backup for Elkhart homes — a silent, maintenance-free alternative to a generator that protects newer builds and aging homes alike. Serving Goshen, Nappanee, and Middlebury.
Battery Backup Installation for Elkhart Homes & Businesses
For homeowners in Elkhart's newer subdivisions, a whole-home battery backup system is one of the smartest ways to protect your investment. For those in older Elkhart homes, a battery backup paired with a panel upgrade delivers modern reliability from a house that was built decades before today's electrical demands existed. Either way, Banner Electric sizes and installs the right system for your situation.
Today's battery systems can power your critical loads for hours automatically — no fuel, no noise, no manual startup. They charge from the grid or solar and switch on the moment the power goes out. Our licensed electricians handle the full installation, from load planning to final inspection.

Why Elkhart Homeowners Are Choosing Battery Backup
A whole-home battery is a natural fit for Elkhart's newer subdivisions — it protects the investment you've made in a modern home, runs silently, and requires no maintenance. For owners of Elkhart's older homes, adding a battery backup alongside a panel upgrade transforms aging electrical infrastructure into a reliable, future-ready system.
Battery backup also makes sense for anyone who wants protection without the noise or upkeep of a generator. It charges automatically, switches on instantly, and gives you peace of mind whether you're home or away.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will a battery backup power my Elkhart home?
A typical whole-home system provides 8–12 hours of backup for essential loads. Runtime depends on battery capacity and how many circuits are backed up. We size every system specifically for your Elkhart home so you know what to expect.
My Elkhart home is older — can I still get battery backup?
Yes. Many Elkhart homes from the 1960s and 70s need a panel upgrade first, and we handle both in the same project. It's one of the best combinations we do — you get a modern panel and reliable backup power in a single job.
How much does a battery backup system cost in Elkhart?
Whole-home battery systems typically range from $10,000 to $20,000 installed, depending on capacity and configuration. Federal tax credits may apply. We provide free consultations and honest quotes with no pressure.
Battery backup vs. generator — which is right for me?
Generators offer unlimited runtime as long as there's fuel; batteries are silent and maintenance-free. Many Elkhart homeowners do both — the battery handles short outages quietly, and the generator covers extended events. We help you figure out what makes sense for your home and budget.
